The IFSC is an initiative of Export Barbados (BIDC) focused on manufacturing sauces and condiments for local producers, helping to expand their operations and increase their export potential. The IFSC takes the hassle out of manufacturing and guarantees that your products are made to international standards. The IFSC is working to expand its production reach to offer its services to the wider region.
WELCOME TO THE
Barbados has a robust food design culture stemming from its tourism and hospitality industry. Add to that our rich culinary traditions, and it is now wonder that the island has been dubbed the Culinary Capital of the Caribbean. The IFSC is tapping into the island’s culinary strengths to also formulate new health and wellness products that can help address non-communicable diseases.
MANUFACTURING ON THE GO!
The IFSC will be supported by an international panel of experts through a Food Science Council, and will provide expertise in several strategic areas:
“Small people, small countries require fairness and require solidarity, we do not succeed on our own. And this International Food Science Center is based fundamentally on that premise – that a lot of the people that you’re going to see here, if they each had to establish their own factory that complies at the level of international standards, and HACCP compliance, they don’t have the capital to do it. But when the government steps in and plays that entrepreneurial role, then all of a sudden, you start and create a platform from which people can grow from strength, to strength, to strength”.
Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, while delivering the feature address at the launch of the IFSC.
