The International Food Science Centre (IFSC) is an initiative of Export Barbados (BIDC), supporting the manufacture of sauces, beverages, condiments and other innovative food products for local and regional producers. IFSC helps businesses scale production, meet food safety and quality standards, and strengthen their export readiness. The facility has already supported manufacturers in reaching export markets and has welcomed regional clients who travelled to Barbados to use its services. With a professional manufacturing environment and technical support, IFSC helps take the hassle out of manufacturing while ensuring products are made safely, consistently and to international standards.

Barbados has a robust food design culture stemming from its tourism and hospitality industry. Add to that our rich culinary traditions, and it is now wonder that the island has been dubbed the Culinary Capital of the Caribbean. The IFSC is tapping into the island’s culinary strengths to also formulate new health and wellness products that can help address non-communicable diseases.
The International Food Science Centre (IFSC) has attained US FDA registration through Registrar Corp, GMP and HACCP certifications through the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF), USA, and operates in alignment with ISO 9001 quality management principles.
With support from an international Food Science Council, IFSC provides expert guidance in food safety and quality, GMP and HACCP systems, product design and development, packaging and labelling compliance, supplier assurance, and allergen control to SMEs.
